Palace Theatre
The Palace Theatre is a beautiful red-brick theatre on the Cambridge Circus in The West End. It was originally named ‘The Royal English Opera House’ and was built in 1891. It slowly transitioned into a playhouse and theatre by the 1950s. The Sound of Music played here for 2385 performances in 1961 and Jesus Christ Superstar played here from 1972-1980. Les Miserables played here for 19years from 1985. The theatre was bought by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1983 and has undergone major renovations. It is now showing Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, one of London’s most successful shows. The Cursed Child is usually booked out years in advance so make sure you book early! You can always try to get ‘return tickets’ on the night, queues usually start at 5:30pm.
