Opera House
Built in 1732, this well-known theater is the home to the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera, which regularly features world famous stars and performances throughout the year. It was originally built as a playhouse before Handel’s first season of operas began in 1735. 2 fires destroyed the magnificent building in 1808 and 1856 and much of it was rebuilt in 1858. Despite this the current building was re-constructed in the 1990’s. It consists of 2256 seats, four tiers of boxes and balconies and a splendid ceiling. It’s one of the most beautiful buildings in London, with a world renowned restaurant serving high quality fare.
