Horse Guard’s Parade Ultimate Guide
Horses literally built this country: from the horse drawn carriages that trundled through the city for centuries, to the global spectacle of equestrian sports which Britain still dominates. No where is better to see these equine beauties in action than at Horse Guard’s Parade. Check out our Horse Guard’s Parade ultimate guide to find out more!
Henry VII built Horse Guard’s Parade as a place to host jousting tournaments, equine displays, and other examples of Royal revelry. It was also once the Headquarters of the British Army and home to The Duke of Wellington. More recently, the Horse Guards Parade was turned into a car park for senior civil servants toward the end of the 20th century. However after much uproar from traditionalists, it was turned back into a parade ground in 1996. It is now used for the changing of the horseguards and the trooping of the colour, which commemorates the monarch’s official birthday.
